A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), also known as a clinical laboratory technician or medical laboratory assistant, is a skilled individual trained to carry out laboratory tests and operate laboratory equipment. They perform clinical tests on specimens of bodily fluids and tissues in order to get information about the health of a patient or cause of death. They examine body fluid samples in a laboratory setting to detect parasites, bacteria, and other microorganisms that may be causing the patients disease. In order to diagnose and treat patients, laboratory tests are carried out in toxicology, haematology, Biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology labs.
